Math Teacher + Professional Development Consultant

About the Job

As a Long-View Math Teacher and Number Lab Professional Development Consultant, you will play a pivotal role at Long-View Micro School while also providing professional development to K-8 teachers and administrators as a consultant on The Number Lab team. This multi-faceted role requires an individual who is self-driven, inspires confidence, is an effective communicator, and has a proven track record as a leader. Additionally, applicants should be well-versed in or excited about the Long-View/Number Lab pedagogy, be adept at developing positive relationships with students, have strong math content knowledge, and have a good sense for the latest research within math education. 

You will be immersed in the Long-View Micro School team, participating in the running of the school and the daily delivery of an outstanding educational experience for our eighty learners. You will also be a part of The Number Lab team, and the content you create at Long-View, as well as work you do outside of the school day and during the summer, will contribute to the growth of The Number Lab. During the summer, you will help lead PD, contribute to content creation, and support efforts to develop a more robust organization. 

This position is full-time, with summer providing some flexibility. Preference will be given to applicants who have attended The Number Lab [Co]lab, subscribe to Learning for The Long-View platform, or in some other way demonstrated interest in our approach. 

Core Responsibilities

Lead instruction of one band of learners  (Being prepared to lead a band is dependent on your content knowledge and understanding of our philosophy. We will co-design a transition plan based on your skill set.)

  • Collaborate with team on curricular design and content creation goals

  • Collect data to track growth of learners; analyze and report as per Long-View’s assessment process

  • Participate in daily activities associated with running the school

  • Lead small instructional groups, before or after school

  • Lead workshops and PD experiences

  • Create content in support of organizational goals

Preferred Qualifications

  • High degree of knowledge in mathematics content (ideally, you are confident teaching Algebra 1 and 2 and Geometry)

  • Experience leading professional development
