In the first session, participants will revisit one of the core concepts—subtraction or division—explored during the 2024 Educators' [Co]lab. This virtual session will emulate the Studio experience of the [Co]lab, where participants actively and purposefully discuss mathematics as they work through problems in partnerships and share their solutions with the community.

The second and third sessions will focus on Thought Exercises. Participants will continue their growth as mathematicians by exploring a range of mathematical ideas through the Number Study or Analyzing Algorithm Thought Exercise. These sessions will encourage academic risk-taking, critical thinking, and the ability to build on colleagues' ideas. Participants will also be challenged to view mathematics through a generative rather than a linear perspective.

The fourth and fifth sessions will continue focused mathematics discussions while emphasizing the importance of building communities of practice among colleagues, both within and outside school communities. The urgency for the development of such communities will be aided by participants recognizing that there is no final destination in mathematics; it is ever-evolving, as we continuously revisit mathematical ideas and use them to make sense of the universe. In other words, there is always more mathematics to know. Participants will also be inspired and aided in developing communities of practice that allow them time to explore ways to effectively engage their students as mathematicians.

Don't miss this opportunity to enhance your learning skills through collaborative math learning with fellow educators!
